My Review Blood Diamond is an influential movie that shows many of the atrocities of war. Set in Sierra Leone the late 1990’s its about Solomon Vandy and Danny Archer. Vandy becomes enslaved by a rebel force and is put into a diamond digging camp, where he finds a pink diamond. Before he can take the diamond he’s is captured by a government group and taken to prison. Meanwhile Danny Archer, a diamond smuggler, is caught trying to smuggle diamonds and taken to prison.

My review Continued Archer hears about the pink diamond, and gets Vandy released. Archer promises to help Vandy find his family if he leads him to the diamond. The movie is all about this journey, which his very difficult.

Critics' thoughts Chicago Tribune’s Michael Wilmington called it, “A visually sumptuous, bullet-train-paced thriller with a really provocative theme. “ Seattle Post-Intelligencer’s William Arnold said, “Zwick's narrative skills keep us hooked on the story, and the first-rate production values and imaginative use of locations (it was shot in Mozambique) give the film an enthralling scope and epic sweep. “

Injustices shown in Blood Diamond Blood Diamond is set in Sierra Leone in 1999. During this time there was a Civil war. The rebel group went around towns killing innocent people. The ones that weren’t killed or didn’t escape where mad slaves who worked digging up diamonds. Sometimes captured kids were forced to fight in the rebel military. Blood Diamond also shows how the media almost doesn’t pay attention to the terrible things going on in Sierra Leone. All of things are produced by the Civil War

Cause and effect of injustices Most of the injustices are stemmed from the civil war and others greed. The rebel group goes around killing people, because they believe they should lead the country. They make people work digging diamonds, because diamonds can be very profitable and are in high demand in places like the USA. The children soldiers shows the indecency of the rebel group. The lack of media Coverage stems from many people not caring about Sierra Leone. All of these things are very sad and might have been able to be prevented if foreign aid had stepped in.
