2 Descarte’s Rule of Signs Suppose that f(x) is a polynomial and the constant term is not zero ◦The number of positive real zeros is either equal to the number of sign changes in f(x) or less than that number by a multiple of 2 ◦The number of negative real zeros is either equal to the number of sign changes in f(-x) or less than that number by a multiple of 2
