6 Application #1. This passage forces us to think about successful decisions! A. How can you tell if you have made a decision in the will of God? B. What really determines whether or not we have made a good decision?

7 Proverbs 14:12 There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

8 In our pragmatic society:
~ What ever works is right ~ If it works it’s truth ~ If successful then what’s to question

9 Col 1:9-12 9 For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. 10And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, 11being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might

10 so that you may have great endurance and patience, and joyfully 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in the kingdom light.

11 #2 To make a solid/righteous decision you must practice ‘Soul talk’.
A. The scripture teaches us that we must talk to ourselves and not let ourselves talk to us! B. This passage reveals a lot to us by way of connection. It helps us understand how we get ourselves in such messes.

12 C. David looked for help in the wrong places.
1. He took counsel from his own faithless, discouraged heart. ~ He listened to himself. ~ He really believed what he thought in his heart was right on!

13 What you say and keep saying to the center of you, will direct your way!
It is absolutely crucial that we feed our soul true biblical propaganda.

14 Never make an important decision when your faithless and discouraged.
WATCH OUT! Never make an important decision when your faithless and discouraged.

15 HOW TO MAKE A TERRIBLE DECISION
1. Forget your past blessings 2. Doubt the promises of God 3. Exaggerate the problem 4. Take counsel in your own heart 5. Take action on the counsel of your own heart (Pulpit commentary)

16 #3. This passage leaves us with another view
#3 This passage leaves us with another view of God’s great grace toward His weak and feeble people. ~ Even when we blunder and fail, our God delights to deliver us. ~ The world says, “You’ve made your bed now lay in it.” ~ Jesus says, “Sinner take up your bed and walk.”

17 The Bible Is Not About The Great Men Of God But The Great God Of Men.

18 We should not criticize the Potter because of the clay but rather marvel that he stoops to work with such stuff. As long as we wallow (however subtly) in some idea of human worthiness we will never understand the Bible, never tremble before this God, and never delight in this God. We must get a grip on grace. Maybe a God-less text can do that for us. –D.R. Davis

19 Take heart—the God of David is your God.
