Galatians 4:4-6 4 But when the right time came, God sent his Son, born of a woman, subject to the law. 5 God sent him to buy freedom for us who were slaves to the law, so that he could adopt us as his very own children. 6 And because we are his children, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, prompting us to call out, “Abba, Father.”

Big Idea God sent His Son, so that we could become God’s sons and daughters.

1. Born of a woman God states the Savior would come as a man- a human. (Genesis 3:15; Galatians 4:4)

2. Born of a virgin woman (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23)

3. Seed of Abraham (Gen. 22:18; Matt. 1:1; Gal. 3:16) Here it is determined that the Messiah would be of Abraham’s family.

4. Son of Isaac (Genesis 21:12; Luke 3:23,34) Abraham had two sons, Isaac and Ishmael. Now God narrows down to Isaac.

5. Son of Jacob (Numbers 24:17; Luke 3:23,34) Isaac had two sons, Jacob and Esau. Now God narrows down to Jacob.

6. Tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10; Luke 3:23,33) Jacob had 12 sons and each became a tribe of Israel. Now God narrows down to the tribe of Judah.

7. Family line of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1; Luke 3:23,32) Now God narrows it down even further by picking one family line out of the tribe of Judah.

8. House of David (Jeremiah 23:5; Luke 3:23,31) Jesse had at least 8 sons. Now God eliminates all of Jesse's other sons except one. God narrows it down to David.

9. Born at Bethlehem (Micah 5:2; Matthew 2:1) Now God eliminates all the cities in the world except one, Bethlehem.

Jesus’ Kinfolk ! Judah— a Jew who had sex with his daughter-in-law, thinking she was a prostitute Tamar— a Gentile who bore two sons out of incest Rahab— a Canaanite prostitute

Jesus’ Kinfolk ! Ruth— a Moabite (the Moabites’ lineage began with incest between Lot and one of his own daughters) David— a king who committed adultery and murder Bathsheba— a woman who committed adultery
