3 How many Triggers do I have to use? Three Triggers per word. Label everything!! You can put up to 3 words with triggers on each side of your paper. Always use the back of your paper!

4 #1 Title Page- discloses the author’s name and the complete title, including any subtitle. T 1 -Sketch- T 2 - Explanation- 1 st page of a book, has the author’s name & publisher T 3 - Application/Use- where to look for author, title, & publisher

5 #2 Table of contents- lists the titles and page numbers of chapters. Chapter titles tell you the main topics in the book. T 1 -Sketch-

6 #3 Index- an alphabetical listing of important people, places, or terms discussed in the book, with page numbers for each entry. T 1 -Sketch-

7 #4 Subject- a noun or pronoun that tells who or what the sentence is about. T 1 - Example- Bob went to the store to buy a chicken.

8 #5 Predicate- the verb or verb phrase and any of its modifiers that make an essential statement about the subject of a sentence. T 1 - Example- Bob went to the store to buy a chicken.

9 #6 Prewriting- The first stage in the writing process; includes deciding what to write about, collecting ideas and details, and making an outline or a plan. Prewriting strategies include brainstorming, and using graphic organizers, notes, and logs. T 1 -Sketch- Webbing

10 #7 Drafting- One of the steps in the writing process; the transforming of thoughts, words, and phrases into sentences and paragraphs. T 1 - Example- Once upon a time a beautiful princess awoke to find that her long blond hair had fallen out.

11 #8 Revising- The stage of the writing process in which a writer goes over a draft, making changes in its content, organization, and style in order to improve it. Revision techniques include adding, elaborating, deleting, combining, and rearranging text. T 1 - Example- Once upon a time a beautiful an exquisite princess awoke to find that her long luxurious blond hair had fallen out.

12 #9 Editing- One of the steps in the writing process in which a revised draft is checked for standard usage, varied sentence structure, and appropriate word choice. T 1 - Example- ¶ Once upon a time an exquisite princess awoke to find that her long luxurious blond hair had fallen out. ¶ = New paragraph

13 #10 Publishing- the preparation of a finished piece of writing often involving available technology, so that it can be presented to a larger audience. T 1 -Sketch
