The History of the Camera Kariney Mendoza Mr. Coyle Introduction to Engineering Design Period 3

The Camera Invented by Alhazen, made with wood and mirrors build inside to take pictures, the first camera “Camera Obscura” was invented during ancient times. But because the photos taken all appeared upside down, in 1839 inventor Louis Daguerre experimented and developed another way of taken photos and named it “The Daguerreotype”; the first working camera. Since then, the camera has been advancing over time, from adding lens, to adjusting focus, to developing shutters and to controlling the amount of exposure all within the camera. With all of these accessories, the cameras were used from capture moments in history to capture memories today.

Major Changes in Camera Evolution Photographic Film (Flexible Roll Film) Invented in 1888, George Eastman invented a dry, flexible and transparent photographic film. This film is rolled on a spool and encased before loading in the camera. Although it was paper-based, the purpose for this feature is to basically store all your images that you have taken to keep for memory.

Major Changes in Camera Evolution Self Developing Film (Instant Film) Invented by Agfa, self developing film (instant film) was used with instant cameras (Polaroid cameras). These films contain various chemicals inside them in order to develop and fix the photo before it’s even taken before it is exposed. But when it is, it starts the developing process for the picture to be clear.

Major Changes in Camera Evolution Digital Imaging Developed in the 1960’s and 1970’s, digital imaging is basically the creation of different digital images. This process consisted of processing, compressing, storing, printing and displaying an image. At most times, these digital images are from a physical scene/event.

The Camera’s Affect on the Society The camera has a massive impact on the society, such as: 1.The ability to capture special moments or events with your family or friends. 2.Scientific discoveries were able to be captured for the world to see, learn about and use today. 3.Historical moments were able to be captured and placed into text books for students to see and learn about. 4.It’s a way for people to get wealthy (selling their photography)
