3 Goals of Session 3 > To delve into creative thinking and its role in 21 st century learning in the ASEAN community > To connect important points from Session 2 on culture, collaboration, and critical thinking with this session > To prepare for the final project which teachers will present on Session 6

6 Making Connections What does being creative or creativity mean to you? Think of a couple of examples. (2 min)

7 A Creative Exercise, part 1 Work That Brain! Introducing…a new sandwich! With your partner or group, create a new type of sandwich. What are the ingredients? What is the name? Why is this better than other sandwiches? (2 min)

8 A Creative Exercise, part 2 Work That Brain! With your new sandwich… Prepare to give a short ‘ad spot’ to market your sandwich. How will you convince other people to buy your sandwich? What will you say? (3 min)

9 Making Connections How was the previous activity exercising your creative brain? How would you adapt this particular activity to your class? (2 min)

10 Making Connections Your Turn Name an invention (or two) that you think is needed in Thailand and the other ASEAN community members. Why is this needed? (2 min)

12 Wise Words, part 2 Let’s watch a video from Marti Anderson on the value and meaning of creativity in ASEAN. What are Marti’s main points? (2 min after video)

13 Creative Minds & Acts That You Know From Marti’s short lecture, make a list of people you know personally or products/actions/organizations you have seen or heard about that exemplifies creativity. How are they exemplifying creativity? (My Example: An inventive cook) (2 min)

14 Wise Words, part 3 Your Turn: With your partner(s), come up with your own quotation about creativity and its significant role in life long learning (2 min)

23 Your Final Project A Culmination A Few Guidelines Teachers must send their materials via email by Tuesday, September 24 th. Only a few teachers from each will be able to present.* Teachers must be prepared to present in front of the room. Teachers are welcome to do a part of an activity to 'teach' other participants.
