4 O BJECTIVES Physical and human capacity development New and better fish production technology Growth of chain activities from farm to consumer for increased profitability Better management of the natural resources Agribusiness-focused aquaculture to vitalize rural aquaculture entrepreneurship

5 S PECIFIC P ROJECTS 1. Developing Supply Chain and Group Marketing Systems for Fish Farmers in Ghana and Kenya 2. Development of Small-Scale Clarias Fingerlings as Bait for Lake Victoria Commercial Fisheries in Western Kenya 3. Characterization of Pond Effluents and Biological and Physicochemical Assessment of Receiving Waters in Ghana 4. Development of a sustainable Tilapia ( Oreochromis niloticus ) culture in Tanzania 5. On farm verification of Tilapia-catfish predation culture in Tanzania

6 P ROJECT U PDATES Students have been recruited to work on the project Identifying marketing channels for fish / field sites for data collections Developing data collection instruments, literature reviews & empirical models Finalizing subcontracts
