From HITRAN2004 to HITRAN2008 and beyond Already Released Update The air-broadened half-widths have been completely updated. An update has also been made for the H 2 17 O and H 2 18 O isotopologues in the near-IR and visible region. Pending updates for inclusion into 2008 edition 9250-26000 cm -1 region using data from Tolchenov et al, J.Mol.Spectrosc. 233, 68-76 (2005). Addition of past 2004 air-broadening measurements and CRB calculations. Refinement of self-broadening. Fix intensities in the pure rotational regions. Past 2008 IUPAC effort to be accommodated (MARVEL). See previous talk. H 2 O – water

Pending updates for inclusion into 2008 edition OCO line list between 4500 and 7000 cm -1 Weak bands [Campargue et al], validate. CDSD [Tashkun et al] Line coupling issues Past 2008Isotopologues CO 2 – Carbon dioxide

O 3 – ozone Already Released Update A major update has been made for the first three isotopologues of ozone. The new data cover bands in the spectral range 1632 to 4845 cm -1. In addition, an improved algorithm for incorporating ozone line- shape parameters has been applied to all ozone bands in the compilation. Past 2008 Further issues with broadening. Extend below 2 microns

CH 4 – methane Pending updates for inclusion into 2008 edition Scaling MW intensities, assignment issues Past 2008 A major update in 0-4800 cm -1 region (Brown&Boudon) Extend below 2 microns

O 2 – oxygen Already Released Update New line list for the Herzberg bands, and corrections to the Schumann-Runge line list. In addition, corrections to the Einstein A- coefficients for all transitions have been implemented. Pending updates for inclusion into 2008 edition New A-band parameters based on the work at JPL, NIST and Lethbridge (Major Update). Past 2008Half-widths in MW and IR validate

SO 2 Total update of 1 and 3 bands and addition of associated hot bands SF 6 New line list (Vincent Boudon) HCNBroadening for higher J’s H 2 COMajor update (Agnes Perrin) Etc. CH 3 BrNew HITRAN molecule BrONew HITRAN molecule Pending updates

Update for OCS (Carbonyl sulfide) Scaling was applied to the hot bands of the 622, 624, 623, and 822 isotopologues, and the cold band of 624, 623, and 822. Update for HCOOH (Formic acid) The update is based upon A. Perrin and J. Vander Auwera, "An improved database for the 9 µm region of the formic acid spectrum," JQSRT, in press (2007) and J. Vander Auwera et al, "Absolute line intensities for formic acid and dissociation constant of the dimer," J.Chem.Phys. 126, 124311 (2007). Update for HNO 3 (Nitric acid) The line parameters for nitric acid have been completely updated in the region from 600 to 1790 cm -1. The new data come from the work that went into the MIPAS (Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding) database: J.-M. Flaud et al Atmos.Chem.Phys.Discuss. 6, 4251-4272 (2006).

C2H6C2H6C2H6C2H6 J. Vander Auwera, N. Moazzen-Ahmadi, and J.-M. Flaud, "Toward an accurate database for the 12 µm region of the ethane spectrum," Ap.J. 662, 750-757 (2007).

Update for PH 3 (Phosphine) New bands have been added in the region 2724 to 3602 cm -1, based on the work of R.A.H. Butler et al, J.Mol.Spectrosc. 238, 178-192 (2006). In addition, the collision-broadened parameters of the previously existing data in HITRAN from 770 to 2472 cm -1 have been updated using the latter source Update for C 2 H 2 (Acetylene) New bands have been added in the 2.5- and 3.8-µm regions. The new parameters (line positions and intensities) come from the works of Lyulin et al, JQSRT 103, 496-523 (2007) and Jacquemart et al, JQSRT 103, 478-495 (2007), respectively. Update for H 2 O 2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) The 6 band in the 7.9-µm region have been completely replaced. The sources of the new data are: Perrin et al, J.Mol.Spectrosc. 171, 358-373 (1995), and Klee et al J.Mol.Spectrosc. 195, 154-161 (1999)

NO + : the Past and the Present All the previous Dunham constants were inconsistent either because of the limited data or mistreatment of the data Smith et al have used a combination of previously determined constants with self-added higher order terms to fit his highly rotationally excited NO + emissions in the thermosphere (low- resolution). These constants were used to generate HITRAN list Global fit of available microwave, infrared, and UV spectra to Dunham constants. The excited electronic state in the UV data was fitted to individual term values because of the perturbations. New linelist generated for J <41, up to v =6. The limitations are due to lack of experimental data. For instance all the data for 2<v<6 is coming from ancient UV spectra of modest resolution Excellent agreement with MIPAS spectrum!!!

UV line-by-line data for O 2 molecule
