4  Your task Chimney sweep, or ‘climbing boy’. Boys would be expected to climb chimneys as narrow as 23cm x 23cm. Many got trapped and died. Others contracted cancer or lung diseases due to the soot. Imagine you were trying to recruit a new climbing boy to work for you. What would be the perks of the job?

5  Your task When you are older you may well attend a jobs fair. It’s a place where employers try to recruit new employees for their businesses by describing the attractions of working for them, the perks. Imagine it is 1833. The Factory Act has just been passed by Parliament but you need to attract healthy, young new recruits to work for you.
