3 Maryland became a state on April 28, 1788. It was the 7 th state to join the union.

4  The capital of Maryland is Annapolis.  There are 5,773,552 people as of the 2010 census.  Maryland is represented in Washington D.C. by two senators and eight representatives.

10  The battle of Antietam was held in Sharpsburg, Maryland. I would visit because Robert E. Lee and his troops fought here.
