5. After Reading Jesse Owens… Jesse Owens did a lot to inspire others, but how do we prove it? We need to introduce the idea, support it, and explain it. Here’s an example: Jesse Owens is remembered for more than just his athleticism. “He had been a sprinter and a broad jumper, that much you understood; but there was something more than just his speed that made black folk, even people who cared nothing about sports, swell their chests a little bit at the mention of his name” (Taylor 39). THIS SHOWS he was remembered for more than just athletics because African Americans remembered him for his perseverance, and how he proved the racist beliefs of the day to be false.

If your name is on the back board, please have your work in by flex, or you will spend time with me at lunch. Finally, please choose a pair of Collins words and make a vocab cartoon.
