Fingerpicking Skills: Each of the fingers are identified in Classical Guitar literature by the following letter designations: "p" = Thumb or Pulgar"i" = Index or Indice "m" = Middle or medio"a" = Ring or anular. Thumb Exercises: Thumb - The right hand thumb can be incorporated into various exercises such as scales and arpeggios but it is also good to do some thumb exercises. One that I use is played, (without looking), free stroke on the following open stings: 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 1-5, 1-6, 1-5, 1-4, 1-3, 1-2 then from the 6th string: 6-5, 6-4, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, 6-5 Finger Exercises: P on string 6, I on string 3, M on string 2, A on string A 6,3,2,1,2,3,6 5,3,2,1,2,3,5 4,3,2,1,2,3,4 5,3,2,1,2,3,5

4 Rest Pick - Pick string 1 with I and M and rest the finger against string 2 after - repeat with M and A Repeat on string 2, 3, 4 Free Pick - Repeat the same exercise but after plucking the 1st string bring your finger straight up Repeat on string 2,3,4
