2 What is a pronoun?

3 A pronoun is a word that takes the place of one or more nouns. For Example: 1. Laura wanted to vote. She wanted to vote. 2. Sara and Gena are friends. They are friends.

4 These are pronouns! I you he she it we they me him her us them my mine your yours his her hers its our ours their theirs

5 What is an antecedent?

6 An antecedent is the noun or nouns the pronoun refers to. For example: Kate and I will go to the lake if you drive us there. Kate and I are the antecedents, and us is the pronoun.

7 Circle the pronoun and underline the antecedent 1.Greg and Al were glad when they arrived in Mexico. 2.Emily flew to England when she was eight years old. 3.The teacher laughs when he is happy. 4.Sandy screamed when she got scared!

8 Circle the pronoun and underline the antecedent 5.Roger announced that he wanted to build a fort. 6.Evan and Eric watched clouds as part of their weather project. 7.I read the book and it was really good!
