Presentation on theme: "Www.imagen-europe.com A longitudinal, multi-centre functional and structural genetic- neuroimaging study of a cohort of 2000 14 -19 year old adolescents,"— Presentation transcript:
A longitudinal, multi-centre functional and structural genetic- neuroimaging study of a cohort of year old adolescents, which investigates the neurobiological and genetic basis of individual differences in brain responses to reward, punishment and emotional cues. Funded by the European Commission FP6, MRC and BRC. IMAGEN: Reinforcement-related behaviour in normal brain function and psychopathology Schumann et al. Molecular Psychiatry 2010
AIMS: -To identify and characterise genetic and neurobiological systems and their environmental moderators underlying reinforcement-related behaviours. -To map the trajectories leading to reinforcement-related psychopathology, including addiction, anxiety and affective disorders. -To identify predictive biomarkers, including for addictions.
Random Effects Analysis (RFX) in SPM8 Anticipation Large vs No Win Baseline assessment: N=2073 Follow-up 1: age 16 years (ongoing) Follow-up 2: age 18/19 years (from 2012) Since 2010: 13 manuscripts published / in review, including Nature Genetics (ir), Nature Neurosciences (ir), PNAS (ir), Mol. Psychiatry, American Journal Psychiatry etc. Results: Identification of several novel mechanisms for risk for addictions and social dysfunctions.
