4 GRADING CRITERIA NEXT Slide 1b Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 P1 Interpret simple engineering drawings/circuit diagrams and sketches. P3 Identify and use appropriate standards, symbols and conventions in the production of engineering drawings. P4 Communicate information effectively in written work and through verbal methods. Hand Out 2 Prepared by: G.A.Smillie Date:

5 By the end of the session you will be able to: state the various types of communication and their uses; state the various types of drawings; state the various types of electronic drawings; begin to build up your portfolio of work. 11 FORMS OF COMMUNICATION Communication types are: Mixed Methods Television (Verbal, graphical and other) Video (Verbal, graphical and other) Movies (Verbal, graphical and other) Web Cam (Verbal, graphical and other) Posters (Written and Graphical) Bill Boards (Written and Graphical) Morse Code (Verbal or Written or Graphical) NEXT Slide 2f Communication for Technicians Unit: 16 Hand Out 2 Prepared by: G.A.Smillie Date:

12 Communication is a two way process. Make sure that the message you are conveying is understood in the way you intended it to be understood. Communication is more effective by combining different methods to reinforce the message. In engineering, graphics is an ideal way to convey information.
