3 Grade C Number – Fractions Simon eats 3 / 8 of a box of chocolates and George eats 2 / 3 of what was left. What fraction of the box of chocolates if left after Simon and George have finished? Use 24 as the number Simon eats 3 / 8 of 24 = 9 so 15 are left. George eats 2 / 3 of 15 = 10 So 19 eaten altogether and 5 are left Fraction that is left is 5 / 24

4 Grade D/C Algebra – Expand and simplify Show that 5(2x + 3y) + 7(x – 2y) = 17x + y Expand and simplify (3x + 4)(x – 5) Show that 2x(6x + 3) + 3x(x + 5) = 15x² + 21x 10x + 15y + 7x – 14y 12x² + 6x + 3x² + 15x 3x² + 4x – 15x – 20 3x² – 11x – 20

5 Grade B Number A box weighs 150g to the nearest 10g. The contents of the box weigh 875g rounded to 3 significant figures. What is the maximum weight of 20 identical boxes, giving your answer in kg? UB of box = 155g UB of contents = 875.5g Max weight of 1 box = 1030.5g Max weight of 20 boxes = 20610g = 20.61kg
