3 BACKGROUND   Since 1994 Rand Water has:   Established community development support units (CBPD & Rand Water Foundation)   Source funding and provide community development support services to various stakeholders within water services chain on   Implementing Agents – Work on cost recovery basis only   Partnership basis 1

4 PROJECT OBJECTIVES  Meet basic water services and ensure sustainable infrastructure  Maximise economic and employment opportunities  Build local communities capacity to ensure sustainability  Promote employment equity target to ensure participation of females in community project = 60% 2
