Issues Faculty Writing guidelines across colleges and departments vary Unaware of available resources for referring students (writing conventions, and others) Scattered resources lack connective thread Time and motivation (pay-off) Training of adjuncts for continuity (academic integrity, incorrect use of writing conventions, and others)

Issues Students Requirements/expectation for guidelines vary by instructor (no uniformity of what is correct versus acceptable) Writing Center attendance (apprehension, uncomfortable/fear, time, resources, others) Literacy Modules – motivation (students can pass w/o transfer of skills) Ask a Librarian – scheduling

Goal Change academic culture, where both faculty/adjuncts and students embrace the significance of academic integrity and writing conventions. Objective Students apply the writing conventions appropriately in their academic work; faculty applies clear and consistent guidelines for assessment.

Vision Multi-step, on-going process involving cooperative action from all partners (such as FCTL, WC, WAC, IED, Library Services)

Next Steps Expand FCTL training for faculty/adjuncts by creating/or accessing Literacy Modules addressing writing conventions (i.e., correct quoting, citing, paraphrasing) Define clear, concise and consistent guidelines for faculty/adjuncts across departments and colleges Recommend embedding “Ask A Librarian” URL as a standard within syllabi and all online courses
