Concentrated solutions- has a large amount of solute in a solvent Ex maple syrup Dilute solution- has a small amount of solute in a solvent Ex Tap water Think of apple juice: ever seen made from concentrate? This is juice where water has been taken out; dilute solutions are juice that has been watered down Types of Solutions

Supersaturated- add a solute (ie sugar) to hot water and make a saturated solution. The let the solution cool- what happens? Solution will contain more solute than a saturated solution normally would

For a solute to dissolve in a solvent, it has to be able to bind with the solvent particles If the solute particles do not bind with the solvent particles than the solute is said to be ‘insoluble’
