How to import and export ADMS-AP conform metadata of interoperability solutions on Joinup 1

Learning objectives By the end of this module, you will have an understanding of:  How to import ADMS-AP conformant metadata of your interoperability solutions on Joinup;  How to export ADMS-AP conform metadata of interoperability solutions from Joinup. 2

Outline 1. ADMS-AP Why? Prerequisites Follow the 4 steps 2. Import ADMS-AP metadata on Joinup Why? Export the metadata of any repository Export the metadata of any solution 3. Export ADMS-AP metadata on Joinup 3

The Asset Description Metadata Schema Application Profile for Joinup (ADMS-AP) 4 For more info about ADMS-AP: https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/svn/adms/trainings/I ntroduction_to_ADMS-AP.pptx For more info about ADMS-AP: https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/svn/adms/trainings/I ntroduction_to_ADMS-AP.pptx Common vocabulary to describe all types of interoperability solutions Makes possible for ICT developers to discover and reuse interoperability solutions through the federation of asset repositories on Joinup Launched as part of the ISA program

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions Joinup allows owners of interoperability solutions to bulk import the metadata descriptions of their solutions into the platform. This can highly fasten and facilitate the federation process. This can also improve the quality of the descriptions and thus, increase the visibility of the solutions and their owners. Note that the import capability only applies to the owners of the repositories. 6

Prerequisites Before importing your metadata descriptions on Joinup, you will have to ensure that: Your file containing the metadata description of your solutions is in an RDF-XML format. The metadata descriptions are compliant to the ADMS-AP The import function should be used at the repository level. In other words, one file should include the metadata descriptions of the repository and all its solutions. To add only one solution on Joinup, it is probably more convenient to manually add the description. 7

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions – Step 1 Go to your repository by clicking on “Interoperability solutions” > “Federated repositories” 8

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions – Step 2 On your repository page click on the button “Upload metadata” 9

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions – Step 3 Select on your PC the RDF-XML file containing the metadata of the interoperability solutions that you want to share on Joinup. 10

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions – Step 4 Once you have uploaded the file, you can check if the file as been validated as fully compliant with ADMS-AP or if there are inconsistencies that need to be fixed. 11

Importing metadata of interoperability solutions – Step 4 Check the validation results and ensure that all the mandatory fields have been completed correctly. Otherwise, a correction to the file would be necessary before a successful upload. 12

Exporting ADMS-AP conform metadata of interoperability solutions from Joinup 13

Exporting metadata of interoperability solutions Joinup allows anybody to export in RDF: o the ADMS-AP metadata descriptions of federated repositories including the metadata of all their solutions’; or o the ADMS-AP metadata descriptions of a single interoperability solution. This can be useful for the owners of the repositories themselves as they have now access to the descriptions of all their solutions in a machine-readable format. This could also be useful for other platform owners willing to refer to and/or import on their platforms the solutions of federated repositories. 14

Exporting the ADMS-AP metadata of a federated repository You can obtain the metadata descriptions of any repository including the metadata description of all its solutions. On any repository page click on the button “Export metadata”. Once the page is loaded, you can easily access to the ADMS-AP file by opening the page’s source code. 15

Exporting the ADMS-AP metadata of an interoperability solution. 16 The same export function is available at the solution’s level. On your solution page click on the button “Export metadata”. Once the page is loaded, you can easily access to the ADMS-AP file by opening the page’s source code.

Conclusion The Interoperability Solutions on Joinup offers the possibility to: Import the ADMS-AP metadata of your interoperability solution(s); and Export in RDF the ADMS-AP metadata of a federated repository (including all interoperability solutions) or a single interoperability solution; in an intuitive and easy way, in standardised, machine-readable format, ready to be reused. 17
