Catholics obtain from eating meat because they want to overcome the passion of the flesh We fast because the point is to focus on Jesus and the Cross while we are abstaining meat and the matter becomes less important if we eat it. We abstain from eating because in honor of the passion of Jesus on Good Friday.

3. We fast because it is a reminder that Christ offered himself to us. During lent we offer our own flesh to Christ. We fast because we abstain from eating meat because it makes the heart grow fonder of God. It is a form of prayer to fast.

4. We fast on a Friday because Jesus died on Good Friday. Is an act of self sacrifice that reminds us of Jesus dying on the cross on Good Friday. it makes the bodies and the soul grow holier if we don’t eat meat.

5. We eat fish because..  The church was trying to support the fishing industries because times were tough  It was a lot cheaper than meat and chicken  It was a food product was cheap and humble food that you had to catch yourself  Not eating meat helps us focus on Christ and how Jesus lived a simple life.
