Timeline 1928: Elie Wiesel is born on September, 30. 1933: Hitler is appointed Chancellor of Germany. 1935: Nuremberg Race Laws against the Jews. 1938: Kristallnacht: Government-organized pogrom against the Jews (Germany, Austria, parts of Czechoslovakia). 1940: Romania ceded Northern Transylvania (includes Sighet) to Hungary.
