9 BOLOGNA PROCESS www.unsa.ba Problem of non existence of the State Law on Higher Education First “Bologna Generation” of around 6200 students enrolled in the academic year 2005/2006 Second “Bologna Generation” of around 6300 students enrolled in the academic year 2005/2006 Enrolment of first “Bologna Generation” was enabled by amendments of Cantonal Law on HE in May 2005 (additional changes – May 2006) and now by permanent changes and addenda to the Cantonal Law on HE

13 BOLOGNA PROCESS www.unsa.ba Academic issues Information packages prepared, 90 % published Attempt for the next academic year: publishing of unified INFO PACK for the entire university Catalogue of duration of studies, professional titles and professions (published) As for its biggest challenge the University is entering the phase of external evaluation of new curricula and preparation of the ones for postgraduate and doctoral studies Reforms office at the Rectorate is taking the role of a mediator and coordinator for finding partners in foreign (mostly Western European Universities) for efficient and effective evaluation of curricula to obtain the ECTS label due to the ECTS concept

14 BOLOGNA PROCESS www.unsa.ba Project Approach UNSA has formed 5 project teams with all scientific groups represented for following areas: ECTS – (dealing with introduction, assesment, training of staff, info packages, online administration, web based databases and continuous improvement as well as evaluation); Organization of master study programs according to Bologna principles Organization of doctoral study programs according to Bologna principles with highlighted project based approach Organization of scientific and reseach work Quality assurance – from bottom to top and vice versa PROJECTS ARE APPROVED AND ADOPTED BY THE SENATE AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS PLANNING TO COMMENCE AS OF NEXT CALENDAR (e.g. BUDGET) YEAR

15 BOLOGNA PROCESS www.unsa.ba Importance of “ECTS” education Having realized the importance of understanding the ECTS as one of key Bologna tools, ECTS coordinator’s office of UNSA prepared for the spring 2007 series of seminars and workshops to cover once more the biggest issues in dealing with ECTS, stressing on the importance of EXTERNAL CURRICULA EVALUATION Diploma Supplement, Learning Agreement, Transcript of records and info packs. Beside this “centralized education” the ECTS project foresees the “ECTS SWOT GROUP” which is intended to act on the field on demand of individual HEIs to deal with subject and area specific issues; The overall aim is to enable the HEIs ECTS coordinators to deal with daily ECTS issues and act upon necessity towards outside the institution;
