4 Application Process Most are on-line Application for Atlantic universities and colleges usually begin after semester one Early admission: over 85% on entrance electives; often after mid-term Ontario/BC universities can require earlier admission. College-NBCC-now Gather info at Post- Secondary Expo

5 Graduation Requirements You are responsible to make sure you have the following compulsory credits for graduation: English 11English 12 Grade 11 MathModern History 11 1 Science 1 Fine Arts/Life Role Credit 5 Grade 12 credits 5 Immersion Credits at grades 11/12 for those in Immersion Program 17 credits in total We will meet with each grade 12 and review your transcripts with you after mid-term marks sem. 1.

6 Post-secondary Expo Up to 40 different schools and programs Occurs on October 21 st during PM classes Parent evening the same night at FHS Come prepared with questions; think about which schools, trades, etc you are looking at and go find out what you want to know Use time to visit several booths Collect and save view books and contact info

Check school websites-best source of info- look under Admissions or Future Students Social Media: Guidance office-view books, AARAO and CUE contacts; can stop by at lunch to view these or make an appointment You can contact recruiters by phone or email and have your questions answered Book a tour!

9 Admission Information Students must check to see that they meet the admission requirements and deadlines of universities/colleges of interest. Students will be assessed based on first semester marks and grade 11 marks for early admission. Most institutions require a fee to process applications Most have an on-line version for faster processing For those students interested in residence a separate application is sometimes required.

10 Scholarships There are community- based scholarships that arrive throughout year at guidance or on-line (see LHHS website) Entrance scholarships School-based scholarships (prizes) Parent work scholarships Internet options Involvement is as important as marks for winning scholarships

15 Transcripts Available at the counter at guidance; students can stop by in the morning, at lunch or after school and request a transcript be sent or picked up Can be mailed directly to the institution or scholarship address or picked up by the student $1.00 per transcript Try and request a few days in advance, especially at busy times of year such as right after marks come out.

16 Student Loans Are meant to supplement income Not all students are eligible A parental contribution calculator available on line Students don’t apply until late May/June; available in May Students must apply on- line Processing time takes from 4-6 weeks www.studentaid.gnb.ca
