Learning To Be Victors

God, why are You allowing this to happen to me?!!

Romans 8:37 We are more than conquerors through Jesus Christ Who loves us and gave Himself for us.

Hipernikao Hipernikao, more than conquerors, means to obtain a complete triumph, to gain an absolute victory, to win overwhelmingly—a supreme victory; and the conquerors, the winners, just keep going, they just keep conquering, and they just keep winning.

1. God’s requirement for being more than conquerors: We love Him. Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Agape …giving totally of oneself to another without the hope of any reward. It’s not just an emotion, nor is it just a romantic attraction. Rather it is a decision of the mind. “Love the LORD your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.” Love of God means total commitment and total trust. We love Him with everything we’ve got.

And what does God do for those who love Him? God works all things together for good.

2. God’s purpose for being more than a conqueror: to be like Christ Romans 8:28-29 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose. 29 For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.

We love Him with everything we have in order to conform ourselves to the same stuff as the LORD Jesus—in order to be and act like Jesus. From Believing to Becoming

“The supreme passage to show us God’s love is Matthew 5:44. Jesus says, ‘Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.’” William Barclay

“Whenever we are hurt, we usually see ourselves as innocent victims. Someone has done us an injustice, and now we’re left to pick up the pieces. While it’s true we may be victims, we are not helpless victims. We can choose how we’ll respond. We can either choose to be angry, self-righteous and resentful, or we can choose to rise above the negativity and forgive.” Les and Leslie Parrott

“I knew it not only as a commandment of God, but as a daily experience. Since the end of the war I had had a home in Holland for victims of Nazi brutality. Those who were able to forgive their former enemies were able also to return to the outside world and rebuild their lives, no matter what the physical scars. Those who nursed their bitterness remained invalids. It was as simple and as horrible as that.” Corrie Ten Boom

To Be More Than Conquerors: We love and obey God by making the difficult choice to love and forgive our enemies and as we do that, God transforms us into the same stuff as Jesus Christ.

Five reasons we are more than conquerors 1)Romans 8:31, “What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” God is for us. Therefore, no one can oppose us.

2) Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” We are more than conquerors because God gives us all things with Christ.

3) Romans 8:33, “Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.” We are more than conquerors because God declares us righteous; no one can accuse us.

4) Romans 8:34, “Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” We are more than conquerors because Christ is praying for us.

The process First, Christ died for us. In doing so, He fully satisfied God's wrath against us by paying completely the penalty for our sins. Second, Christ arose from the dead for us. Because of His resurrection, we do not have to fear death. Third, because Christ completed the task that God had given Him to do, He now sits at the right hand of God. Fourth, Christ is praying for us.

5) Romans 8:35, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? … 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. NOTHING can separate us from Christ’s love. The final reason we are more than conquerors:
