Dundee Office: Office burnt down in January 06, presently staff working from mobile truck Extreme delays in obtaining approved needs assessment from Director: Management Services Staff unhappy with slow pace in obtaining alternate accommodation Durban Harbour: PortNet requested to vacate premises Needs assessment requested in February 06 not yet approved PortNet indicated there is accommodation available, PWD can also proceed with needs assessment BCOCC EXCO indicated that funding will be made available for accommodation

36 36 Previous issues raised by Portfiolio Committee in KZN: Traditional Leaders (TL)  Relations with TL’s are sound and positive, they are - included in Stakeholders Forums invited to Imbizo’s give access to DHA to render services utilized i.e. Regional Authority (a committee made up of all Amakhozi’s in the Region) for communication purposes appointed to sign 1680’s (in respect of deaths that occurred in their area) confirm some documents as they fall under the definition of a person of good standing

37 37 Previous issues raised by Portfiolio Committee in KZN (cont).: Human Trafficking at Harbour  SA fertile ground for human trafficking because of demographics, diverse colour of population  Target - children and young females  Reason – prostitution so that the bosses make money  Bait – jobs promised under false pretence  Passports confiscated  Countries – Thailand and the Far East
