2 ENES 181 – Dialogue with the Dean (1 credit, optional for any ENGR major) Introduction to Engineering as a Profession. Overview of research programs, technology literacy, business entrepreneurship for engineers and how to get involved. Only offered in fall semester ENFP 108 – Hot Topics in Fire Protection ENGR (1 credit course, optional for those interested in Fire Protection) Basic fire science, investigation, human behavior, fire safety, toxicity, risk analysis, and an overview of the fire protection engineering profession. Only offered in fall semester BIOE150 – Applied Ethics and Public Policy in Bioengineering (3 credits, optional for any ENGR major) CORE SB Students learn about medical devices such as heart valves and artificial hearts. Government requirements for clinical testing and the obligations to patients are reviewed. UNIV 100 – The Student in the University, ENGR Section 0604 (1 credit course, optional for any ENGR major) Intro to university life and engineering majors. How to manage transition between high school and college, study skills and wellness.
