4 Group Discussion What is a natural disaster? What is a natural hazard? What is the impact on humans from each? What impact do humans have on each? Can either be prevented? If so, how? If not, why?

5 Course Objective By the end of the course, you should be able to Bring a scientific awareness and understanding to natural phenomena that are commonly perceived as hazardous or disastrous. Explain the physical processes of natural hazards. Gain an appreciation for the affect that natural disasters have on our lives.

6 Natural Disaster Essay Write an essay discussing a natural disaster that has occurred. Use the following link to guide you http://earthweek.com NOTE: There are archives to locate many past natural disasters.http://earthweek.com Discuss the disaster. When did it occur, what happened, and why did it happen. Use Chapter 1 for an example of introducing natural disasters. Share any experiences you have had with the disaster. Be sure to have an introduction, body, and conclusion. If you want to include pictures, be sure to reference them. –Typed, double-spaces, 2-page maximum. –Include references used ( APA-format).
