2. Mission Statement: To provide students with a strong technical foundation, while opening doors that lead to a wide array of opportunities that extend far beyond classroom limits. Students affiliated with our association will be well equipped to take on leadership roles in industry, management, and academia. While we strive for success, we also embrace failure as a methodology: where student not only learn how to persevere through failure, but also how to improve and grow throughout the experiential process.

3. Outcomes: Throughout the process, students will work to gain the skills necessary to advance the learning process. Students will develop an extensive portfolio of creative, labor-intensive projects.

4. Outcomes Cont’d Students will be able to demonstrate a proficiency in utilizing state-of-the –art equipment and high- powered level spaces. To foster creativity in a range of different ideas and concepts related to inventioneering.

5. Structure Name: The Burleson College of Experiential Learning. The following name above is, of course, tentative and can be subject to change. What is essential is the need for a name change. By changing the name from “inventioneering” to “experiential learning”, this alleviates any misconceptions that may be attached to the misnomer.

6. Structure What is it? The Burleson College of Experiential Learning will be designed as an affiliation “entity” of ASU. This affiliation will function similarly to the Barrett Honors College. By creating the College as an affiliation of ASU, the College will not need to be accredited; instead, any interested and motivated student can apply to become a member of a reputable affiliation that consist of a highly-esteemed community of inventioneers.

7. Structure How does it Work? Prospective students will be required to apply to the BCoEL through an essay based application process in which the student’s creative goals of are expressed. Upon acceptance, students will be required to pay a semester-based fee similar to that of Barrett Honors College students. These fees will be assigned in conjunction to the student’s use of level spaces.

8. Classes: General 1. Experiential Learning 101 - A Socratic class based upon the process of inventioneering. Professors or industry leaders will discuss the patent process, design, engineering, marketing, advertisement, etc 2. Experiential Learning 102 – An invention resource course: teaches how to access information such as TED Talks, Instructables, Open Source Learning etc. 3. Experiential Learning 201 - Invention initiation course: grant writing, preliminary patents, fellowship opportunities, venture capital.

9. Classes: Core 4. Experiential Learning 103 – Modular Systems: How to create a module, design your own module. Upon completion, students will have access to level one spaces. 5. Accessing level 1-4 spaces. Modules enables a student circumvent course requirements to expedite the use of user spaces

10. Evaluation Methods Merit badge, micro-module systems: with the purpose of propelling the student into the user space environments whilst supplementing their regular curriculum. Successful module completion would predicate user space access. Completion of modules that already exist to determine space eligibility. Start to work on intro project (already done)

11. Evaluation Methods Build into project, gather people, inventor mentors, ambassadors. Products, presentations, papers, venues. Upon publication of their work, in conjunction with their major, students will graduate with an official seal of recognition from BCoEL on their diploma.

12. Disadvantages of the Major/Minor Money – Cost to Benefit 2. Accreditation – this is a huge obstacle to over-come. 3. Who gets in? – Deciding on whether students have to have an idea or if ideas should be fostered isn’t concrete enough to decide the admission’s process. 4. Employment/Academic Recognition: There is no adequate checks and balance system to validate an entire major.
