5. Education Like I said before, he went to John Muir High School and Pasadena Junior College. In college he played four sports, football, basketball, track and baseball. He continued at the University of California, LA. Shortly before he was going to graduate, he had to leave because of financial issues.

6. After being kicked out of the university, he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. There, he played for the semi-professional Honolulu Bears. The seasons was cut short when the US entered WW2. 9. Before and After his Death AAfter a decade long career with the Brooklyn Dodgers, he retired from baseball. The Dodgers retired the number on his shirt, number 42. AAfter baseball, he became a business man. He was an executive for Chock Full O’Nuts coffee company and restaurant. HHe was the first African American to be inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1962 HHe died from heart problems and diabetes in 1972. HHis daughter Sharon wrote a book about him called Promises to Keep. A biography about her father, Jackie Robinson.
