6:12-4 Exploring square roots and rational numbers

vocab Square root- a number that when multiplied by itself equals the given number. Perfect square- square of a whole number Rational number- number that can be written as a quotient of two integers in which the denominator is not zero.

Finding square roots Sqrt (100) (what times itself equals 100?) 10 x 10 = 100 so sqrt(100) = 10 Sqrt (4) 2 x 2 = 4, so sqrt (4) = 2 You can also use your calculator √ symbol to do a square root

Square roots Sqrt(49) Sqrt(64)

Identify rational numbers Rational numbers are numbers that can be put into a ratio (a/b). So terminating decimals, repeating decimals, and whole numbers are rational. 1.2 4 1.131313131313…. 1.1213141516…..
