3 What ??  The Challenger was a space shuttle. It exploded on its tenth mission. 4 When??  The Challenger exploded 73 seconds after launching on January 28, 1986. The time period was the 80s.

5 Who??  NASA was a leader of the event because they launched the shuttle, but it wasn’t their fault that the Challenger exploded. The following slides are brief summaries of the brave crew on the shuttle.

7 Judy Resnik  She was not married, nor did she have kids  Judy was a senior systems engineer in product development  Her hobbies included bicycling, running, and flying during her free time. 9 Ronald McNair  He was married to Cheryl Moore, also he had two children.  Ronald was a physicist.  His hobbies included running, boxing, football, playing cards, cooking. 10 Ellison Onizuka  He was married to Lorna Leiko Yoshido, he also had two children.  Ellison was a pilot of a shuttle.  He enjoyed running, hunting, fishing, and sports.  When he passed away he was 40 years old.  He was married to Lorna Leiko Yoshido, he also had two children.  Ellison was a pilot of a shuttle.  He enjoyed running, hunting, fishing, and sports.  When he passed away he was 40 years old.

11 Dick Scobee  He was married to June Kent. Also, he had two children.  Dick was a pilot for more than 45 types of aircraft.  His hobbies were: flying, oil painting, woodworking, motorcycling, racquetball, jogging, and most outdoor sports.  He passed away at 47 years old.  He was married to June Kent. 12 Mike Smith  He was married to Jane Jarrell and he had 3 children.  He was in the Navy. Also, he was a pilot instructor.  His hobbies included woodworking, running, tennis, and squash.  Mike was 41 years old when he passed away.  He was married to Jane Jarrell and he had 3 children.  He was in the Navy. 13 The Crew  This is the brave crew on the Challenger:

14  The explosion was thought to have happened because it was to cold outside (36˚F.) The temperature affected this because it caused the O- rings to fail. What are O-rings you ask? They are seals that go between the rocket boosters.
