Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 Category I Proposals for the November 2013 Faculty Senate Meeting November 14, 2013 MOU: BS in Natural Resources; Urban Forest Landscape Option (to be Extended to Ecampus) MOU: BS in Sustainability (Existing Undergraduate Double Degree Program Proposed to be Extended to Ecampus) Proposal #86455: Rename the Existing Master of Science in Counseling Program to Master of Counseling

Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 Executive Summary: This proposal seeks to rename the Master of Science (MS) in Counseling to Master of Counseling. This is a rename only. There will be no curricular changes. Rename the Existing Master of Science in Counseling Program to Master of Counseling Rationale: This is a non-thesis graduate program. Their concern is that “MS” implies a thesis Masters. With this rename, they feel that all ambiguity is removed. Budget Impacts: $500 over four years. Year 1Year 2Year 3Year 4 $500$0

Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 External Letters of Support: Idaho State University Issues: PSU was contacted, but chose not to endorse this. They were concerned that this sets a precedent and that they would be forced to follow. The CC did not find this compelling enough to turn this proposal down or send it back. Sabah contacted the PSU Provost, who agreed not to oppose this at the Provost’s Council. CC Vote: The Curriculum Council unanimously approved this proposal. Rename the Existing Master of Science in Counseling Program to Master of Counseling

Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 Executive Summary: The existing BS in Natural Resources; Urban Forest Landscape Option is a “mixed delivery” option on the Corvallis campus (i.e., contains both on- Campus and online courses). This proposal seeks to extend it to also be an all-Ecampus program. BS in Natural Resources; Urban Forest Landscape Option (to be Extended to Ecampus) Rationale: This will allow students who are working outside of the Corvallis area to take this program. Impacts to Students: This is good for those students who can only take the entire program via Ecampus. It will not affect the Corvallis-campus students. CC Vote: The Curriculum Council unanimously approved this proposal. Ecampus endorses this program

Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 Executive Summary: This proposal seeks to make the BS Sustainability Double Degree program available in an all-Ecampus format. BS in Sustainability (Existing Undergraduate Double Degree Program Proposed to be Extended to Ecampus) Rationale: Sustainability is the philosophy that increasingly drives global business, organizations, and politics. By extending this program to Ecampus, students from outside the Corvallis area would be able to get the Double Degree. Impacts to Students: This is good for those students who can only take the entire program via Ecampus. It will not affect the Corvallis-campus students.

Richard Nafshun, OSU Curriculum Council November 14, 2013 Program: This program consists of 36 credits taken in addition to the student’s regular 180-credit OSU degree. Those 36 credits consist of a sustainability core, a sustainability internship, and 11-16 credits of individualized coursework. BS in Sustainability (Existing Undergraduate Double Degree Program Proposed to be Extended to Ecampus) Ecampus endorses this program Issues: Other than some wording-change requests, none. CC Vote: The Curriculum Council unanimously approved this proposal.
