Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 1: KEEP ALL DOORS OPEN (Target D1/D2 “Qualifier” Status) D1 Qualifier Graduate high school 16 Core courses 10 of 16 before senior year (7 of these 10 must be English, math and science); these courses and grades are “locked in” GPA and SAT/ACT on sliding scale (2.3 minimum GPA) The “Academic Redshirt Year” SENIORS: You need only the 16 core courses and the GPA/Test Score on the current sliding scale (2.0 min GPA); No Academic Redshirt Year

Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 1: KEEP ALL DOORS OPEN (Target D1/D2 “Qualifier” Status) D2 Qualifier Graduate high school 16 Core courses with a 2.0 GPA 820 SAT or 68 ACT FRESHMEN: You will be under a different set of rules with a GPA/test score sliding scale that has a minimum 2.2 GPA “Partial Qualifiers”

Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 2: BE OPEN TO ALTERNATIVES  D1 VS. D2  NCAA VS. NAIA  DIVISION 3  CCC such as SRJC  An opportunity to develop athletically, academically, socially  A good option when you are uncertain and/or not ready for a big decision yet  You still should target NCAA QUALIFIER STATUS!!! This leaves opportunities open.

Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 3: BECOME A COMPETITIVE COLLEGE ADMISSIONS CANDIDATE  Follow A-G Recommended, not just Required  GPA/Test Scores

Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 4: GET AHEAD  The athletic eligibility rules once you arrive on a college campus are rigorous! College credit earned now will contribute towards meeting future requirements.  AP Classes/Tests  Concurrent Enrollment (get it while it’s FREE!)  Early Summer Start

Strategies for future athletic success STRATEGY 5: NO MATTER WHAT, STRIVE FOR COLLEGE READINESS  Remedial units needed at the college level close doors athletically  Not being ready for college when you arrive on ANY college campus closes doors athletically  Do NOT stop taking Math!!!  Take College English and math placement exams  Create study habits for success NOW!
