Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Marie Curie Host Fellowships for the Transfer of Knowledge ToK

Marie Curie Schemes Continuity and Evolution  Bottom Up programme  Marie Curie label generalised  Opening of schemes to 3 rd country nationals  No age limit, but experience criterion  Reintegration measures (including incentives to return to Europe)  Excellence promotion

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Specific objectives of the action ToK « These will be directed at European organisations (universities, research centres, enterprises, etc.) in need of developing new areas of competence, as well as at furthering the development of research capabilities in the less-favoured regions of the EU and in the Associated candidate countries. Knowledge transfer fellowships will allow experienced researchers to be hosted at such organisations for the transfer of knowledge, research competencies and technology. »

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Implementation Marie Curie Development Scheme * Reinforcement of the research potential of host entities in need of new area of competence (LFR, Assoc. Candid.) Marie Curie industry-academia strategic partnership scheme * Creation and development of real strategic and durable partnerships between the academic world and the world of enterprises aiming at the establishment of lasting collaborations of mutual interest (SMEs)

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Implementation ToK Development Host Host experienced researchers, recruited following an international publication of vacancies (2 months - 2 years) or/and Send experienced researchers to one or more distinct and independent bodies in another Member State, Associated Candidate Countries or other Associated States for the acquisition of new knowledge (2 months - 1 year) to be transferred and developed by them on their return to their home organisation (x months out - x months in) Incoming  Outgoing

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Implementation ToK Industry-Academia Strategic Partnership Universities/Research Centres and companies (commercial, incubators, start-ups and spin-offs, venture capital companies) from at least 2 different Member or Associated States Mutually exchange experienced researchers (2 months - 2 years); develop their knowledge by the integration of researchers in a different work environment Acquire new knowledge and benefit from this when the researchers return to their organisation of origin Fostering new, inter-sectorial, lasting research collaborations beyond the term of the proposed contract, or strengthening existing collaborations.

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Implementation Mobility Rules Nationals of the EU Member Countries Nationals of the Associated Candidate Countries Nationals of the Non-Candidate Associated Countries Nationals of the Third to the FP6 Countries Read carefully the Work Programme !

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 1. Scientific Quality of Project 2. Quality of Host/Quality of Knowledge Transfer 3. Management and Feasibility 4. Relevance to the objectives of the Scheme/Activity 5. Added Value to the Community Read carefully the Work Programme !

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Indicative scope of activity For each 100 M €, this action should allow: Conclusion of 200 contracts, involving 350 host organisations Provision of funding for approximately 1400 researchers/year ~2/3 of budget to Development Host Scheme ~70% of of budget of Development Host Scheme to LFR and Assoc. Candid. Countries >30% of budget of Industry Academia Partnership Scheme to SMEs

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 1. Scientific Quality of Project: Interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary aspects of the proposal Originality/innovative aspects of the project Quality and relevance of the knowledge transfer Definition of the project with respect to achieving the ToK objectives

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 2. Quality of Host: Capacity of the host to transfer or receive knowledge International/ intersectorial research collaborations Quality of infrastructure / facilities

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 3. Management and Feasibility Practical arrangements for the implementation and management of the fellowship Equal opportunity policy for the recruitment of researchers Quality of the collaborative partnership Match of the targeted researchers’ profile to the knowledge transfer Appropriate size of requested fellowship ………………….

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 4. Relevance to the objectives of the Scheme/Activity: Development Scheme: Benefit of the knowledge transfer for the host Increase the long term research capacity of the host Potential of the host to reach an international level in the specified field Industry-Academia Partnership Scheme: Capacity to develop new, or enhance existing, intersectorial collaborations Benefit to the participating organisations from enhanced intersectorial or international collaborations Match between project and applicant host’s profile (synergy) Potential to achieve lasting intersectorial or international collaborations

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK Evaluation Criteria 5. Added Value to the Community: Contribution towards the objectives of the European Research Area Long term synergies/structuring effects built by carrying out the proposed project at a European level. Increase the attractiveness of Europe for researchers and improve the gender balance in the scientific/training area European competitiveness and other Community policies including regional, national or international activities

Marie Curie Schemes - ToK FP5 Development Host Fellowships Community LFRs only Experienced Researcher (Individual) Fellowships Short stays only (max. 1 year) Very experienced researchers (10 years experience) only Towards Community LFRs or industry-academia only EU/AS nationals only FP6 Host Fellowships for Transfer of Knowledge All regions/countries of EU/AS Short or long stays (up to 2 years) Development Scheme Industry-Academia Exchange Scheme Open to 3rd country nationals
