8 Delegation of Work  ODA ~ Food Processors (3000) and Retail Grocery Stores (6400) firms totaling approximately 12,000 licenses Food processors include bakeries, dairy, warehouses, non-alcoholic beverages, shellfish, meats, and domestic kitchens  OHA ~ Restaurants, Pools, Hotels, Epi, investigations, RV parks, school kitchen inspections

11 New Retail Positions  In 2013 Oregon Legislature approved three new permanent positions dedicated to retail inspections (Portland).  Three limited durations positions dedicated to retail were hired in 2015 (Bend, Medford, and Salem)

14 COMPUTER SYSTEM Central Office System is integrated to all ODA systems (field inspection, regulatory laboratory, licensing and FSP main office computer system) and standards reporting needs. The Field Inspection Program known as Be Food Safe (BFS) using iPad synchronizes to the Central Office on daily basis

15 iPad & CO update  One year of history and experiences  Enforcement actions tracked  Classifications expanded  New Robo e-mail system to rapidly distribute information

18 Top Retail Complaints 1. Animals in stores 2. General Sanitation 3. Handwashing/glove use 4. Food past pull date 5. Food quality

20 Variances  Revitalized ~ new team  Restructured procedural flow charts  Updated packets for firms for the most common variance requests

22 Memorandum of Understanding  ODA and OHA are working towards updating the interagency agreement that addresses combination facilities with multiple activities (original document was from 1986)  Working towards rewriting the Epi MOU (original document was from 2002).

24 Odds and Ends  Plan Review course ~ 22 staff members recently took FD-207.  Oregon is now a marijuana state. This will touch almost every program in the agency  Retail Standardization begins in October. We will work towards Standardizing all staff involved in retail inspections, however we will not be a Voluntary Retail Standards state at this time.

25 Odds & Ends continued  Food Safety Advisory Board ~ due to begin this November.  Food Safety Program administrative rules to be slightly amended to better comply with the ADA in regards to “Assistance Animal Trainers”.  Domestic Bakeries ~ small firms will be exempt from licensing.

27 New Retail Experiences  Cut Fruit processing and packing  Pizza ovens in 7-11  Juice in retail trying to go around juice HACCP  Kombucha in growlers  Vietnamese yogurts  Mobile units for adding additional food service activities
