Paul is using military language to urge his readers to engage the conflict against the pull of fleshly desires.

Paul explains since we are dead to sin we must submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We are not to use our bodies as a weapon of unrighteousness, but to surrender our body as a weapon of righteousness.

Paul explains in 6:1-4 that we are Living with a New Identity Paul explains in 6:1-4 that we are Living with a New Identity Romans 6:5-11 Paul tells us we are Living with Christ. Romans 6:5-11 Paul tells us we are Living with Christ. And Paul tells us in today's lesson that we are to be Living as God Wants. And Paul tells us in today's lesson that we are to be Living as God Wants.

Today we are Today we are looking at : Living as God Wants Romans 6:12-14

Since we are considered Dead does not sinning come automatic or must we chose?

Paul knew that some Christians failed to fully grasp the New Life.

6:12 Do not let sin control the way you live; do not give in to sinful desires.

When Christian falter they have a chose not to let sin over power them. This happens when we choose to be led by the worlds ways. What are some of the worlds ways?

Paul had just told the Romans believers that they were dead so why would they chose to resurrect the dead and allow sin to dominate their bodies? Paul makes it clear that we are not to sin. Jesus told the lady caught in adultery to go and sin no more. How can a dead person sin?

While justification merely declared him righteous, removed the guilt of sin, it did not change him in his life. It gave him a new nature. Now he is to know that he was buried with Christ and raised with Him.

God wants him to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. The believer is joined to the living Christ. He is to reckon on that fact; he is to count on it. He is to consider it as true. You see, God saved us by faith, and we are to live by faith. God wants him to live in the power of the Holy Spirit. The believer is joined to the living Christ. He is to reckon on that fact; he is to count on it. He is to consider it as true. You see, God saved us by faith, and we are to live by faith. McGee, J. V. McGee, J. V.

Many of us, and that includes this poor preacher, have trusted Him for salvation, but are we trusting Him in our daily living? We are to live by faith. Now we come to that which is very practical indeed. You are to yield yourself or present yourself to God. McGee, J. V.

6:13 Do not let any part of your body become an instrument of evil to serve sin. Instead, give yourselves completely to God, for you were dead, but now you have new life. So use your whole body as an instrument to do what is right for the glory of God.

Paul was still using military terms to get the New Believers to understand that they must do battle every day against the schemes and temptations of the Devil. Paul was still using military terms to get the New Believers to understand that they must do battle every day against the schemes and temptations of the Devil.

We are using are minds, tongues, hands, ears, eyes and feet to either serve God for good, or to serve Satan for evil. How do we do this?

Our old self was enslaved to sin, but in God’s salvation the old self was crucified with Jesus on the cross. Sin has no more claim to you so therefore yield your bodies to God.

We as believers still carry the effects of sin and we will till our bodies are matched up together in the union between the New body and the Glorified Spirit at the Rapture or the resurrection.

6:14 Sin is no longer your master, for you no longer live under the requirements of the law. Instead, you live under the freedom of God's grace.

Paul is making the assertion that since we died with Christ, that we are to live in victory over sin. Paul makes it clear that with Christ we always have the upper hand against the lies of Satan. 22 The power of Christ redeemed use while we were at our worst and through this redemption we can continue in our daily walk with Christ. Praise God we are Redeemed!

Since Christ died we will never be under the curse of the law, but always under the freedom of Grace……...
