4 Family assistance at home (FAH) in Ljubljana historically In 2012 Ljubljana celebrates the 20th anniversary providing the service 1992 – 2002: FAH services were offered by the Ljubljana social centers and retirement homes In 2002 the City of Ljubljana established a Home Care Institute In 2009 the City of Ljubljana commissioned a concessionary Pristan to respond to the high demand

5 Family assistance at home (FAH) Social welfare service Organized as a public service Service is provided and co-financed by local communities (part of the service price is paid by the user, part is co-financed by local community, possibility of exemption from the service – competent authority Centre for social work) Professionally managed process (two parts: professional part and direct implementation of the service) Services are implemented at the home of the user

6 Purpose of FAH Help at ensuring the quality of live at their own home To allow the users to stay at their own home as long as possible Preventing loneliness To relieve the relatives

7 FAH - data creation of appropriate circumstances for the elderly to remain at home and in their local environment help with maintenance of personal hygiene, household help and help with keeping up social contacts Statistic for 2014: 165.736 hours 1.420 users 2.426.020 €

8 FAH - users Persons over 65 years of age Persons with disabilities (with disability status, other disabilities) Chronically ill persons, persons with long term health problems Children with severe physical disability and mental health problems

9 Provision of FAH in Ljubljana The City of Ljubljana subsidized 80% of the total cost of FAH services The remaining 20% of the cost is covered only by the financially solvent users of the services or else by the City of Ljubljana In 2014: 2.426.345 € from the city budget or 191.206 € more than in 2013

10 Home Care Institute Ljubljana Public institute, established in 2002 Institute works in the context of a public service The city of Ljubljana subsidizes 80 % of the service costs Follows to work professionally, responding to the needs quickly

11 Home Care Institute Ljubljana In 2014 the institute implemented 137.467 hours of family assistance at home In 2014 the institute implemented 163.290 visits at the users home Monthly the institute had 756 users on average

12 Services that complement FAH services at Home care institute Ljubljana Developing the expansion of activities To raise the quality of the services and to gain the certificate of quality ISO 9001 Realization of the preparation of the project Centre for dementia Voluntary and intergenerational cooperation Work in the field of public interest Exchange of technical and medicine devices for the users Additional activities at Vila Urška Cooperation at implementing EU projects Informing the public about the work of the institute

13 Home Care institute Ljubljana – Social service Social service is not a part of the public service network Includes help with domestic chores, bringing prepared meals, buying and bringing food, laundry and ironing work etc. Social service had 200 users in 2014

14 Ljubljana City Library 6 libraries in more than 30 locations The learning exchange services, the centre for autonomous learning, points of lifelong learning Travelling library Home-library service

15 Ljubljana -vision The City of Ljubljana recognizes the significance of its elderly and therefore attempts to build channels for information on their needs and wishes to flow freely in order to continually improve the overall provision of quality programmes and services for the elderly.
