1 Mr. Keith L. Ball, Principal EHS Mission Statement: Etowah High School exists to prepare life-long learners and productive global citizens

2  The General Assembly of Georgia created councils to “bring communities and schools closer together in a spirit of cooperation to solve difficult education problems, improve academic achievement, provide support for teachers and administrators, and bring parents into the school-based decision- making process.”

3  School Councils shall provide advice, recommendations, and assistance and represent the community of parents and business.

4  Members of the School Council will serve for a term of two years.  The council will have a minimum of seven members.  Parents must make up the majority of the council and at least two of them being from the business community.  A parent member must serve as the chair.

Ball, Principal - Mrs. Lisa Frantz, Teacher (Three Certified Vacancies)

6 parent  The electing body for parent members shall consist of all parents and guardians eligible to serve as a parent member. teacher  The electing body for the teacher members shall consist of all certified personnel eligible to serve as a teacher member.

7 prior to the voting meeting (August 31 Deadline).  Nominations are accepted by the principal from with in the electing body prior to the voting meeting (August 31 Deadline).  Nominations must be submitted in writing (email, fax, letter are all acceptable) by 8/31.  One vote shall take place with the highest vote recipient(s) being elected to serve on the school council.  You must be present to vote.  A person does not have to be present at the time of the vote to be elected to the council.

10 Officers will be elected by the School Council at the first meeting following the election of the School Council Members. 1 st Meeting: Wednesday, September 15, 2010 4:15-5:30, EHS Conference Room  Chairperson  Chairperson – vacant  Vice-Chairperson  Vice-Chairperson – Mrs. Beth Choppa  Secretary  Secretary – Mrs. Michelle Angalet

12  To promote effective communication and foster team-work, the Student Advisory Board at EHS will be represented at each School Council Meeting.  Student representation is not required by the State Legislature in regards to council membership but necessary to overall effective school leadership.  The School Council, PTSA, SAB, and all stakeholders will work together in preparing life-long learners & productive global citizens.
