By: Kaylyn Abeyta & Jaryn Dupree WATER ENERGY
2
Descriptions It is a renewable resources (largest renewable resource) Created from many different resources Like fossil fuels, natural gas, coal, and it can be water
3
History it is 27% of the world electricity, more then 1 billion people use it 1940- Bigger dams were built (33% of electricity)
4
Energy Run-of-River- a channel of a river Reservoirs- uses run of river method Pumped Storage- gets pumped
5
How it is used today? Hydro Kinetic- in the ocean catching waves Wave energy- a device gets the wave Tidal energy- the flow of the tide is captured Constructed water waves- flowing water
6
Devices Explanation Picture Hydro Kinetic- built, dragged, then installed Wave energy- the machine comes in pieces, and put together out at sea Tidal waves- built, dragged, then installed Constructed water waves- dug into the earth
7
Energy Disadvantages a lot of money is needed to make dams Uses limited/ nonrenewable resources flooding is more likely to happen geological damage can happen when building big dams Advantages under control no pollution Nature can run the power plant Reliable renewable
8
Impacts Environment Hydrogen is nonpolluting Can effect the habitat of fish Dig into the Earth deals with water which is harmless Economic can spend a lot of money More efficient way of power
9
future By the time of year 2025 the electricity increases ( 10% growth) increase from wave and ocean energy devices Better technology
10
Interesting facts Used for more than 2,000 years ago 1878 the Niagara Falls was one of the first hydroelectric plants 150,000 gallons every second Second LARGEST water fall
