2 © 2011 Autodesk Class Summary Evolution AutoCAD® Map 3D 2011 and Autodesk® Topobase 2011 were combined in the 2012 product launch to create AutoCAD® Map 3D*.  Migrate from DWG to the Map 3D utility model  Extend your models using the Industry Model Data Editor  Build and maintain the topology of your infrastructure models  Run analysis on your infrastructure network *Access to an Oracle utility model datastore requires the upgrade to Map 3D Enterprise however.

9 © 2011 Autodesk What is a Document?  A document is related to an Oracle schema, which contains all your Map 3D data.  A document contains one or more topics. Think of a topic as a container that organizes feature classes.

10 © 2011 Autodesk Feature Classes  Topic—contains one or more feature classes.  Feature class—an Oracle database table containing geometry and attribute data about features such as polygons, points, or lines.  Tables—basic unit of data storage in an Oracle database.  A column refers to an attribute that describes the data.  A row is a collection of column information corresponding to a single record.

12 © 2011 Autodesk 1.3.4 Domains  Domains are look-up tables in Oracle database that contain valid values for attributes of feature classes to guarantee the integrity of database information.  A domain is represented by a stacked look-up table icon.  The Landuse feature class attribute ID_LANDUSE_TYPE is related to the domain Landuse Type (ID_LANDUSE_TYPE_TBD).

13 © 2011 Autodesk Using Generate Graphics  When a model is opened its features do not automatically appear in the Map 3D drawing area.  To begin working with the data you must display the features in the map window: you have to generate a graphic.

14 © 2011 Autodesk Select Styling  Default styling is an option for immediately displaying Map 3D data sources. The styling is done with random colors and standard symbols and texts.  To get a map with default stylization, select in the display panel.  Predefined styling: Usually predefined display models are provided by the administrator and should be applied by the users.  You can switch easily between different predefined display models for the same dataset.

15 © 2011 Autodesk Generating Graphics with a Viewport  A viewport limits the geographic extent of the data that will be drawn.  To access the viewport window, select Generate Graphic > Advanced Generate Graphic.

16 © 2011 Autodesk Creation and Editing  Attribute  Several options exist for displaying attribute information about features:  Click the Information icon, and then select features of interest in the graphic display.  Open attribute information forms for features in the document explorer.  Double-click a feature in the map  Features  Click on a feature and choose checkout  If Auto Checkout is enabled, any feature clicked on will present grips.  If Auto Checkout is dis-abled, select the feature and choose checkout.

18 © 2011 Autodesk Standardize  Using forms and look-up tables (aka Domains) attribution can be easily standardized  Reference records provide an excellent way to create attribute “templates”  Global updates apply one or more updates to an entire filtered set

19 © 2011 Autodesk Form Filters  Queries do not require extensive SQL knowledge.  To use a form filter, open the form of the feature class.  In the document explorer, right-click the feature class and select Show Form to access the Form tab and the Table tab.

20 © 2011 Autodesk Form Filters +  Add Filter tool.  Simple filter  Additive filter  Or filter  Construct queries by entering conditions using operators.  Oracle is case-sensitive  Example: To perform a Simple filter query that returns polygons whose areas are greater than 40000 m 2, in the Area field introduce the condition > 40000.
