2 There are 5 different ways to apply come to Canada from elsewhere 1. Apply as a visitor (Visa) 2. Work Temporarily 3. Study 4. Immigrate 5. Refugee

3 Categories of Immigrants 2011 1. Skilled workers and professionals (for people who want to work in Canada) 2. Quebec-selected skilled workers 3. Canadian Experience Class (people who have recent Canadian experience at work & school) 4. Investors, entrepreneurs and self-employed people (for people who want to start a business in Canada) 5. Provincial nominees (provinces/territories nominate specific people to work there) 6. Sponsored family members (Canadian citizens can ask for their family members to join them here in Canada)

4 Skilled workers and professionals education, work experience, knowledge of English and/or French, and other criteria that have been shown to help them become economically established in Canada. Skilled workers are selected as permanent residents based on their
