Author:Dick King-Smith Illustrated by Mary Rayner Book report by: Sydney Kraus

 The main place in this story during the beginning and the middle is the farm but at the end of the book it’s at a obstacle course.

 Babe is a smart little pig that has always wanted to be a “sheep pig”! “Mum,” said Babe, “you’re a great sheep dog then why can’t I become a great sheep pig.”  Fly is a sheep dog and takes care of Babe and teaches him how to be a “sheep pig”. Fly said to her children that when she first saw that pig that pigs are very retarded, that’s before she got very close to him.  The sheep are very dumb but if you want some answers you better talk to them very nicely. Fly has always said that sheep were just born plain old stupid.  Finally there is the farmer that takes Babe into a race for DOGS! Of course Babe starts freaking out.

 Babe has to lean how to be a sheep pig but its harder then he thinks. Fly( his dog mother) helps him become a sheep pig. What makes him so good at being a sheep pig is that he isn’t mean to the sheep he communicates with them.So of course they are going to be very kind and do what Babe wants to do. The Farmer sees that the pig is very good telling the sheep what to do so he puts him in a obstacle course.

BBabe hears that he is going to be in a obstacle course so Fly (His step mother) works him very hard for the competition. Now he cant eat a lot which is hard for a pig. He has to train for running because as a pig that is very complicated to run fast. Babe does this every day and gets better and better.

 The day of the obstacle Babe gets ready to go. He gets to the place and he is looking at all the other dogs and he finds out this obstacle course is only for dogs but the farmer said it will be ok cause he will end up winning first prize. So WILL Babe win first prize? Well, you may never know unless you read this book!!!

 I would definitely recommend this book because it has a lot of personification. The farm animals are so funny, too. I would also recommend this book because the author gives an example that even if you are not good at something it doesn’t mean don’t try. You should read this book because it’s a short, cute, little story that you can read over and over again! I would give it a two thumbs up!!!!!
