What are suffixes? A suffix is a group of letters we add to the end of a word. Suffixes change the meaning or purpose of the word, e.g. kind + ness = kindness How has the word meaning been altered?
The suffix ness The nurse was kind. The nurse showed great kindness.
The suffix ness After her run, Miss Kemp was tired. After her run Miss Kemp was full of tiredness.
The suffix ness If you are careless, your work will be full of mistakes. Carelessness in your work means it will be full of mistakes.
