2 I was/were walking home from the newsagent. My friends and I are/is going to a party. We was/were going to go to the stationery shop but then it was/were raining so we didnt go. Some sentences: what do you know already.

3 Before you proceed further note: Was/Were is if you are talking about something that has happened. For this, we use the term past tense. We were playing football in the park. Is/Are is talking is if you are talking about something that is going to happen or something that will happen. For this we use the terms future and present tense. We are going to play football in the park. We are playing football in the park. Was/Were or Is/Are

4 Were is plural- i.e. for more than one person: We were going to the park. Was is singular- i.e. if you are talking about only one person, like yourself. I was about to go to the park. He was about to go the park. She was about to go to the park. [name of person] was about to go to the park. Was or Were?

5 Are is plural- i.e. for more than one person or you. We are going to the park. You are going to the park. Is is singular- i.e. if you are talking about only one person, but not yourself (for that you use am). He is about to go the park. She is about to go to the park. [name of person] is about to go to the park. Is or Are?

6 I was/were walking home from the newsagent. My friends and I are/is going to a party. We was/were going to go to the stationery shop but then it was/were raining so we didnt go. You are/is going to the funfair. Is/Are you going to the cinema tomorrow? Sam was/were walking to the theatre. Was/were you at the cricket match on Saturday?
