1 Principal’s Mid-Year Report 2009-2010 Shelley Jusick Napoleon Middle School Math Goal

2 What is Your Goal? We, all teaching staff at Napoleon Middle School, will improve each grades numbers and operations strand score on the Fall 2010 MEAP so that: – The students in 6 th and 7 th will increase their numbers and operations strand percentage 5% – The students in 8 th grade will increase their numbers and operations strand by 10% – And, all students in 6-8 th grade will improve his/her personal pretest on the numbers and operations score 10% on the posttest.

3 Objective One Teachers will provide a focused enriched math culture for all students by using math vocabulary and computation when applicable. – Teachers will ID, implement and document ways to use numbers and operations within their curriculum. – Weekly Math Activities during homeroom.

4 Evidence of Action Options for Evidence : Checklist and resources provided to all teachers. Weekly lesson plans reflect math activities.

5 Is It Working? Is the objective implemented to the expected level based on the plan? 1.All teachers (100%) are currently participating in the physical implementation of the objective. 2.Homeroom teachers give math activities each week in homeroom. Are the students making progress based on the original goal? 1.Data has yet to be collected to make comparisons. Post tests and MEAP data will be evaluated in the Spring. Based on the above reflection, articulate the correlation between the objective implementation and the overall success of your student goal.

6 Objective Two The Math Department will make available to all teachers – teaching strategies, thinking processes and tools. – Weekly math activities provided to homeroom teachers. – Checklist developed for all teachers.

7 Evidence of Action Options for Evidence : Weekly lesson plans show evidence of math activities. Monthly discussions reported on team meeting notes.

8 Is It Working? Is the objective implemented to the expected level based on the plan? 1.All teachers (100%) are currently participating in the physical implementation of the objective. 2.Teachers discuss interventions for struggling students at team meetings. Are the students making progress based on the original goal? 1.Pre/post data is showing progress from year to year. Based on the above reflection, articulate the correlation between the objective implementation and the overall success of your student goal.

9 Objective Three Teachers will provide a focused enriched math culture for all students by using math vocabulary and computation when applicable. – Weekly emails sent to parents with lesson plans for the week. – Math websites posted on school website for parents/students.

10 Evidence of Action Options for Evidence : Weekly lesson plans emailed to parents. Website updated periodically.

11 Is It Working? Is the objective implemented to the expected level based on the plan? 1.All math teachers (100%) are currently participating in the physical implementation of the objective. Are the students making progress based on the original goal? 1.Pre/post data is showing progress from year to year. Based on the above reflection, articulate the correlation between the objective implementation and the overall success of your student goal.

12 Objective Four All math teachers will assess and analyze pre/post test and MEAP data. – Pre and Post test data comparisons – MEAP Data analysis to determine growth – specifically number and operations strand.

Is the objective implemented to the expected level based on the plan? 1.All math teachers (100%) are currently participating in the physical implementation of the objective. 2.Other staff serve on committee to monitor completion. Are the students making progress based on the original goal? 1.Pre/post data is showing progress from year to year. Based on the above reflection, articulate the correlation between the objective implementation and the overall success of your student goal.

15 What’s Next? Post-test and MEAP Data will be reviewed and success measured – Both in overall Math performance and in Number and Operations strand.
