3 Meal Charging Procedures  High school students may charge for meals at their school cafeteria; however, they should not accumulate charges in excess of $5.00. No charges are allowed for a la carte or snack items.  Students in Grades K through 8 may charge for meals at their school cafeteria, however, they should not accumulate charges in excess of $5.00. No charges are allowed for a la carte or snack items.  Students that accumulate negative balances in excess of $10.00 may receive a meal of the nutrition services manager’s discretion. The meal will meet USDA guidelines and the student’s account will continue to be billed.  Adults will be allowed only one charge. If the charge is not paid the next day, they will not be allowed to purchase anything on credit.

4  Pepsi Bottling Ventures has exclusive pouring rights in the Indian River School District and only Pepsi Cola products are to be sold/served at events.  Larger booster groups such as those that utilize the main stadium concession stands, as well as large fundraisers and student events should order all products directly from Pepsi Bottling Ventures in Salisbury. There is a 10 case minimum order.  Smaller groups requiring less than 5 cases of beverages could purchase items from local stores but should think about how many cases they will utilize over the season. If 6 or more cases will be used over the season they could order in bulk at the beginning. 4 Pepsi Bottling Ventures

6 Meal Benefit Form 15-16 Prior to sending Meal Benefit Forms to IREC please ensure: 1. All meal benefit forms are completed in their entirety and the parent/guardian has signed where applicable. 2. Income entries indicate frequency (i.e. weekly, monthly, bi-weekly, etc.) 3. Check that parent/guardian has entered the last four digits of the SS# or checked the box stating they do not have one. 4. The student name written on the Meal Benefit Form matches the name in eSchool. 5. Contact the Nutrition Services Office with any and all questions.

8 Smart Snacks in School  Be a “whole grain rich” grain product; which means at least fifty-one percent of the product must contain creditable whole grains.  Or, Protein (Meat), fruit, vegetable, or dairy must be the first ingredient on the nutritional label.  Or, Combination foods (such as NutriGrain Bars) must contain at least one fourth cup of creditable fruit or vegetable.  Or, contain ten percent of the Daily Value (DV) of nutrients of “public health concern” such as potassium, vitamin D, or dietary fiber.
