25 Conclusions I The main findings: - The users of online music stores appreciated the easy use of the stores and furthermore laid weight on the importance to be able to buy a single track instead of an entire album - The technical protection measures decreased the amount of customers for online music stores - The actions taken by the copyright owners have not had any significant effect on the usage of p2p sites - The participants of the survey had problems recognizing the rights granted on a user by the copyright law - The chance of getting caught was estimated to be between the chance of winning lottery jackpot and the chance of a television license inspector’s visit - Large-scale p2p file-sharing was generally thought to be as condemnable as failing to pay for television license

26 Conclusions II - The use of p2p file-sharing sites has not significantly affected the use of other medias, except for portable record devices, such as iPod, which use it has increased - Many would be willing to pay monthly for a service that enabled unlimited music- and video file sharing and downloading - About 80% of the participants thought that p2p file-sharing sites allowed new music and artists to become known - Selling pirated recordings of different medias was thought to be more condemnable than large scale p2p file-sharing The next tasks: clusteration, correlations and closer analysis for a scientific article The researchers will publish the survey’s raw data on 15 September 2007
