Parting of friendships 1.Think of reasons why friends might have to leave each other. Discuss. 2.In pairs, improvise the scene when one friend has to explain to the other that they are leaving and why. How might the friend react? 3.Flash-forward to 10 years in the future. The friends have lost touch but meet at a reunion. Create the scene when they meet again.

Show five tableaux of memories of events or activities that they shared together.
Scenario Scene 1 Time: 7pm Place: In her bedroom Action: Toni is getting ready for her school prom. She is going away to college. She is excited but worried that she wont see her friends again. Her parent tries to reassure her. Scene 2 Time: 9pm Place: At the hotel Action: The head teacher makes a toast. The music starts – everyone gets up to dance (tableaux). Toni and her friends all say a monologue about what their plans are for the future. Scene 3 Time: 10.30pm Place: Outside the hotel Action: Toni is chatting to a few friends. They all promise that they will remain friends. Auld Lang Syne starts and they hold hands in a circle. Scene 4 Time: 9am Place: College residency Action: Toni arrives and meets the receptionist at the halls of residence. He tells her a few rules and shows her where it is. She enters and wonders what her room-mate will be like (monologue). FINISH AFTER DISCUSSION IN YOUR GROUPS
